About Getting Ahead
Getting Ahead is a 16-week group workshop led by facilitators in a "kitchen table" format. Together, we will investigate barriers to getting ahead in Wichita, Kansas. Participants will create their own plan and build resources, tools, and skills needed for stability, and learn how to go from surviving to thriving.

Requirements
- Sick and tired of being sick and tired!
- Willing to create and live by group rules and contribute to the learning of others
- Willing to learn through self-discovery
- Attend all sessions and make up any that were missed
What You Will Do
- Work as a team to describe what poverty is like in the community
- Investigate economic class differences
- Learn the causes of poverty
- Learn how to transition to self-sufficiency
- Learn how to navigate the worlds of work and school
- Identify and build resources
- Create a plan for a better future
- Learn the importance of increasing your social resources
- Help your community
- Receive a renewed sense of HOPE
